Coordinated by Guillian GRAVES, the 'Design and Biology' research programme explores future changes in design practices as they converge with the sciences, particularly the life sciences. To do this, it draws on the Research, Initial Training and Continuing Education departments of the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI-Les Ateliers) and on the resources of an ecosystem of partners from the sciences (including the Institut Pasteur), technology and society, as well as on the advice of international experts.
It is through the organisation of seminars (Design en séminaire), participation in research projects (including Descitech) and the creation of multi-disciplinary courses, both theoretical and practical, that new ways of linking science and design are being tested, by experimenting with new forms of cooperation, methods, spaces and trans-disciplinary tools designed to produce appropriate responses to the environmental, climatic and health challenges of the future.
