Supervision of the Biomimicry Experimental Studio at the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI-Les Ateliers), whose theme varies with each Studio. For students, the Studio is a space designed to experiment with new project-based approaches.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Active matters” (2024).
The Studio's students imagine “active materials” inspired by nature. They refer to intelligent materials that have the ability to change shape, physical properties or appearance in response to external stimuli such as temperature, light, humidity or magnetic fields. These materials offer designers new possibilities for creating objects and spaces that are not only functional but also capable of adapting dynamically to their environment or to human interaction.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “What nature teaches us” (2023).
In collaboration with the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle de Paris, Studio students explore nature, from the nano- to the macro- to the eco-systemic scale, to imagine new types of products/services in response to future challenges. All this, in a “Biology push” approach.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Energies” (2022).
Studio students are rethinking our relationship with energy by sketching out new, bio-inspired solutions for producing, capturing, absorbing, transforming, storing, distributing or, more broadly, managing this resource differently, to move towards sustainable and desirable models.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Recycling in orbit” (2021).
In collaboration with the Centre National d'Études Spatiales, Studio students are imagining new ways of thinking about the use of space and recycling space waste in orbit.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme "Paleo-bioinspiration" (2020).
In collaboration with the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, Studio students draw inspiration from extinct fossil species to imagine eco-innovations.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Bio-inspired Ecosystems” (2020).
Studio students imagine new urban systems inspired by natural systems to make them more sustainable and desirable.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Bio-inspired textiles / Bio-manufactured textiles” (2019).
Studio students imagine new bio-inspired or bio-manufactured soft materials as alternatives to a polluting textile industry.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Bio-inspired colors” (2019).
Studio students imagine new ways of thinking about color as an alternative to a toxic chemical industry.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Planet Mars” (2018).
In collaboration with the Centre National d'Études Spatiales, Studio students imagine new ways to travel to / populate the planet Mars in a sustainable and ethical way.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Oceans” (2017).
Studio students draw inspiration from marine species to imagine eco-innovations.
ENSCI Studio Expérimental Biomimétisme “Biomanufacturing” (2016).
Studio students imagine new biofabricated materials as alternatives to a polluting industry.
